Objective of this policy

Women in Energy Asia (UEN No. T15SS0020B) (WIEA) is a registered society in Singapore with the objective of giving female professionals in the energy sector a platform to grow their industry network and foster their careers through networking, industry talks, training, mentoring, role-modelling and professional development.

WIEA respects individuals’ right to privacy and is committed to complying with applicable data protection laws including the Personal Data Protection PDPA (No. 26 of 2012) of Singapore (PDPA).

This policy sets out how we collect, use, disclose and process personal data in accordance with the PDPA.

If you deal with us, access our website or provide us with information, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of personal data in accordance with this Policy (including any subsequent amendments to this Policy) and the PDPA.

  • contact details (including business contact information such as work email address and telephone number(s));

  • designations and employer names; and

Why we collect personal data

We collect personal data for purposes connected to our operations and activities, including, without limitation, organizing talks, conferences and other events, fundraising, marketing and promotional activities, and conducting surveys and procuring feedback.

How we collect personal data

We may collect personal data directly from our members or from third parties, including in person, on our website when someone signs up for membership, joins our mailing list, connects with us on LinkedIn or other social media, through email or other written correspondence, via text messages or voice calls, or through recordings.

 

We may also collect personal data based on how individuals use our website, including through ‘cookies’, web beacons and other similar technologies. Cookies are small text files that are transferred to a computer’s hard drive through a web browser to enable our systems to recognise the browser and record non-personal data such as the date, time or duration of your visit and the pages accessed, for website administration, statistical and maintenance purposes (Cookie Information). We use cookies to provide a more consistent experience across our services. No attempt is made by us to use Cookie Information to personally identify individuals. However, if Cookie Information is linked with personal data as set out above, this Cookie Information becomes personal data and will be treated in the same manner as the personal data to which it has been linked. All recordings, articles, quotes, photographs, films, audio or video and/or any reproductions of same in any form, are the property of WIEA. We are released from any and all claims, demands, costs and liability that may arise from the use of these interviews, recordings, photographs, videotapes or films, and/or any reproductions of same in any form, as described above, arising out of being interviewed, recorded, photographed, videotaped or filmed.
